What’s the difference between Stainless Steel Scourers and Copper Scourers? - Cleaning Products UK

What’s the difference between Stainless Steel Scourers and Copper Scourers?

At our shop in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, we get asked a lot what the difference is between stainless steel scourers and copper scourers.  We often get asked about it on our online shop too.

It may seem obvious to some, but to others (myself included) it can be very confusing.

Especially when you’ve either just started up a commercial cleaning company, or you’re just in the process of researching the supplies you need, and you’re being bombarded with different types of cloths, sponges and scourers.

It can be confusing knowing which one to buy so let us explain the difference.

Stainless Steel Scourers

Stainless steel scourers are a spiral scourer made from stainless steel.  It’s great for cleaning in the catering industry… and it also doesn’t rust!

But make sure you don’t use your stainless steel scourers on non-stick and delicate surfaces and appliances as it will remove the non-stick and scratch!

Copper Scourers

Copper scourers are a circular scourer which is made from a very fine metal mesh which is then coated with copper and is great to use on more delicate surfaces as it’s less likely to scratch!

But remember to always test what you are going to clean to make sure it doesn’t leave scratches.

So which is better!?

BOTH!!

Both the stainless steel scourers and the copper scourers are great for their own uses.

The copper scourers are a bit more delicate, so there's less chance it will leave scratches, whereas the stainless steel scourers are heavy duty, and great for cleaning burnt on grime as well as ovens and grills in the catering industry.
