Stripping Floors - Black or Brown

For stripping floors you will need either a black or brown floor scrubber pad.  They are highly abrasive and will remove floor polish easily to prepare for refinishing the flooring.  With either black or brown floor scrubber pads you will be able to easily remove many layers of floor polish as well as heavy soiling. 

Although the manufacturer suggests the black and brown floor scrubber pads can be used on machines up to 600rpm, they are really only meant for 150-200rpm machines, as a high speed scrubber is not suitable for stripping polish.

Scrubbing Floors - Green or Blue

The green and blue floor cleaning pads are great for scrubbing floors but they will most likely take up the top layer of polish, leaving a dull surface, which will be perfect for recoating.  They aren’t as abrasive as black or brown floor scrubber pads, but will still be able to remove many layers of dirt and marks. 

Regular Cleaning and Maintenance - Red or Tan

The tan floor maintenance pads are finer than red, and are commonly used for very light cleaning, before then going in with a red buffing pad to finish the regular maintenance of a polished floor. 

Once you’ve applied a cleaning fluid or floor maintainer by spray/mop to the floor, buff gently with a tan floor maintenance pad, and then go in with a red floor maintenance pad if needed.  These are great for high speed floor buffers. 

Burnishing Pads - White

Burnishing pads are used to achieve a perfectly polished floor, leaving it with a high shine.  

A white floor polishing pad is the softest pad, which in other words means it leaves the brightest shine on the flooring.  White floor polishing pads are to be used on medium / high speed machines as they can overheat at higher speeds.
